Previous Customer User Experience:
"At first I was looking into buying a Hobart. But I decided to give this LOTOS CUT50D machine a try. I must say I was a bit skeptical at first. I recieved the LOTOS unit in time. The unit was packaged in a double box foam and well protected. All accessories were packaged in separately. The unit hook up was relatively easy, although the plug was not included. I did attach my own 220V plug and after about 20 minutes I was up and running. I had previously used my friend's Hobart so I was familiar with the way that it functioned. I think the Hobart that I used had much less power than this LOTOS Cut50d. The unit performed very well. I use it to cut bits and pieces on my 67 Mustang that I have been working on (for the last 4 years). The machine worked very well. the length of the plasma cable could be a little longer, but the unit itself is light enough so i can carry it around. It's very easy to use and cuts through metal (even with some rust on it) like butter. I must say, It's well worth the price, and in my humble opinion, even better than Hobart or other higher priced items. It is assembled in China, but I suppose in this day and age you can't find anything that's not aseembled in China, like IPOD, Iphone all assembled in China. However, the quality is A+. The instruction manual is a bit vague (Later on, I was suggested to download the latest version online from lotos website, that version looks much better). however, the unit itself only has 1 button and 1 knob. So, I guess, if i can figure it out, anybody can.
Over all I would give this unit 5 stars. Well worth the money. I have had my unit now for 5 months and it's been trouble free. The consumables are available from their store or Lotos dealers. "
"I am also a DYI hobby cutter/welder. I have worked on cars and bikes using tig and naturally plasma and OXY cutting tools for year. When my old machine finally died I decided to look for a compact replacement plasma cutting tool. I looked at many brands, of course the usually suspects first; Hobart, Miller, etc. I researched on the internet extensively and it seemed for the most part Lotos got pretty good reviews. So, I gave it a try and must say I was pleasantly suprised. I have used the LOTOS CUT50D for almost a year. The machine has worked flawlessly. It cuts very smooth and I have had no problem cutting 1/2" steel pipes. The service from the company has been very smooth as well. The machine did take a bad tumble from the top of my garage tool rack and was damaged badly; the knob got pushed in. I did send it in to a service center in California. It was repaired and in less than one week I got it back in perfect working order. The only issue that I have is that the only service center was in California. However, the machine is lightweight so it was easy to ship it. I would certainly recommend this product. "
"What a difference. Just got my Lotos 50A plasma cutter. Nice equipment with good clean cutting parameters. What a difference from my Oxy torch. I thought I would have to get used to this for a while, but your learn pretty quick after your first cut. The machine is nice and compact, quiet and clean. I couldn't believe that I could get a plasma cutter of this quality for such a good price. Highly recommended. "
"The cutter came with everything except an electrical plug which makes sense because it will work on 110 or 220 so there is no way for them to know what type plug to send. I wired mine for 220.
The first thing I cut was some 1/8 " steel. It zipped right through that. I then tried some ¼" with no problem. The next thing I cut was ½" steel. I got through it but I had to take it easy. I didn't have anything thicker but with my lack of skill I'm not sure I would tackle anything thicker than the ½".
I also tried some very thin steel and it did a great job with a low amp setting. 1/8" and ¼" aluminum cut with no problem.
I don't have a steady hand so most of my cuts looked pretty rough but the machine cuts so fast with no resistance it was hard to get a straight cut. Anyone who has used a cutting torch will know what I mean.
I still don't know how they can produce this much cutting power in a 25 pound machine but they did. I am impressed with the machines quality and performance ".
